Looking for a way to elevate concrete?

Consider Board-Formed Concrete!

At Lincoln Construction, we are always looking for the next unique and architecturally innovative project to challenge and further our building practices. If you’ve been following us on Instagram, you may have seen we have been working very hard on a super interesting plunge pool and deck project. During the planning stages we spent a fair amount of time figuring out the most interesting and artistic way of presenting a concrete formed shell for an eight-foot plunge pool. We looked into stamped concrete patterns and exposed concrete options. After a lot of research and putting our creative thinking caps on, we came up with an idea for forming the concrete using sandblasted fir boards. Check out this article from Life of an Architect for more detailed information on this process.

Bob Borson's Life of an Architect article explains the detailed process of achieving this unique finish. To summarize, board-formed concrete is a method of construction that imprints a wood grain pattern onto the finished face of concrete, giving it a visually warmer and softer appearance while retaining the characteristics of concrete.

We coloured the concrete for an added affect, and if you haven’t been following us on Instagram, take a look at the progress photos below!
