INTRODUCTION
Tucked into the bedrock and forest canopy on the Lower Sunshine Coast, The Fjord is a compact custom home built with intention. With a modest footprint and minimal site disturbance, this project reflects the homeowner’s desire for simplicity, durability, and a strong connection to the landscape. Lincoln Construction was brought in to deliver a build that respected both the terrain and the budget without cutting corners.
INSIGHT
Homeowners J + L approached this project with a clear vision: a home that felt warm, efficient, and grounded—not oversized or over-designed. Our job was to bring that vision to life with hands-on problem solving and construction expertise. From the first excavation on rock to the final siding details, our focus remained on staying on schedule, on budget, and in tune with the site.
DESIGN & CONSTRUCTION CONSIDERATIONS
Building into Bedrock
With minimal excavation, the foundation was anchored directly into natural rock. This required thoughtful planning, precision layout, and efficient material use to maintain structural integrity without overworking the site.
Light Without Over-Clearing
Surrounded by dense forest, the structure was framed to capture natural light while preserving trees. Strategic window placement brings the outdoors in—each opening carefully positioned for views and light.
High Performance in a Humid Microclimate
Set deep in the forest and close to the water, this build required extra care around moisture management. We combined a rain-screen system, continuous insulation, and triple-glazed windows to ensure long-term comfort and resilience in a challenging coastal setting.
Construction Without Road Access
With no driveway and a sloped, forested site, everything from framing materials to finishes had to be walked in or craned in. We planned deliveries and sequencing carefully to keep the build on track, despite limited access.

The Fjord is the epitome of a cozy, inviting cabin and sits perfectly within the forest. Designed with simplicity, warmth, and connection to nature in mind, it brings the dream of peaceful living to life.
